The Baltimore Conference Lay Organization invites you to join the 2026 Lay Institute and Historic Eastern Shore Tour on Saturday, September 12, 2026. This special day will highlight Maryland’s rich Black history, faith heritage, and the powerful contributions of leaders and communities across the Eastern Shore.

This year’s Lay Institute is a unique and exciting travel experience approved by the body in June, designed to help us explore the history we have read about and been taught for years. The tour will include historical stops connected to Caroline, Dorchester, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties, with meaningful presentations and reflections on liberation, faith, and social impact.

Trip Details

  • Date: Saturday, September 12, 2026

  • Locations: Eastern Shore of Maryland, including Caroline, Dorchester, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties

  • Trip on the Bus Cost: $85 per person for transportation, Lay Institute registration, and lunch

  • Lunch and Tour only: $35 adult / $20 youth

  • Deadline: Saturday, August 29, 2026

  • Baltimore departure: 7:30 AM from Empowerment Temple AME Church, 4217 Primrose Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215

The day will conclude with a return trip in the late afternoon, after a meaningful journey through historic sites and presentations that connect our faith to Maryland’s Black legacy.
